Samsung Omnia Pro5

Its connectivity suite counts as one of the greatest come-ons of the Samsung Omnia Pro 4. The phone is able to access the network coverage of the quad band GSM 850/ 900/ 1800/ 1900. Additionally, in places where the dual band HSDPA 900/ 2100 is supported, the phone can make use of 3G service. To purchase your next mobile phone take a look at mobile phone comparison.

Should the user wish to use GPRS to connect online, the Samsung Omnia Pro 4 provides both Class10 GPRS (with a speed of 32 to 48 kbps) and Class 10 EDGE (with a faster speed of 236.8 kbps) connection. These days, however, the usual connecting medium, especially for business users, is via wi-fi, and the Samsung B7350 provides this. The phone is equipped with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g and HSDPA at 7.2 mbps, enabling high-speed Internet browsing. (more…)

Samsung preps first real Android alternative to iPod touch

Samsung YP-MB2

Samsung YP-MB2

Samsung is soon going to release what should be the first true competitor to the Apple iPod touch to use Android. The YP-MB2 would have identical features as the Galaxy S but targeted at MP3 players. This gadget would center on the same large, outdoor-friendly four-inch Super AMOLED screen and 1GHz processor but would use Wi-Fi only to get online.

The YP-MB2 will use Android 2.1 with Samsung’s customized TouchWiz (now 3.1) interface layered on top, but it should get extra features to compensate for the absence of a phone. Built-in storage should double to 32GB, and the Korean model will get DMB over-the-air TV tuning. Unusually for this class of device, GPS would remain intact and could give this gadget an edge when navigating with offline apps.

In Korea, the YP-MB2 should release August 11. It hasn’t been formally unveiled but is likely to reach other countries.

Apple Magic Trackpad

Apple introduces simultaneously two new important accessories today. The Magic Trackpad is Apple’s first trackpad designed for a desktop and uses similar surface-as-a-button design as the pad on a MacBook Pro. With an 80 percent larger surface, though, it theoretically allows for more precision. It also has the same angle as the official Wireless Keyboard and is potentially more comfortable than the Magic Mouse over long time.

Apple kicks off the iPhone 4 Case Program with help from Belkin, Griffin, Incase & Speck

July 23, 2010
Case program iPhone 4

Case program iPhone 4

Do you own iPhone 4 ? You can now request the free bumpers Apple promised everyone at the Antennagate press conference. It must not be Apple’s option either. Apple enlisted the top mass-market case designers as well. You may choose a free bumper from Bumper, Belkin, Griffin, Incase or Spek all the way through the end of September 2010. But you may not like the options. It might not what you were hoping.

Apple’s made it simple to order your free bumper. First, you’ll have to download the iPhone 4 Case Program app from the App Store. Funny, I know, but this app is probably used to take some of the confusion out of the process. Otherwise owners would have to key in their serial numbers and that could get messy. From there it’s just a matter of selecting your bumper. That’s when you’ll discover the program’s nasty little secret.

While there are numerous types of different bumpers available, the only available color is black. Sorry if you were hoping to have a color that will make you stand out from the rest of the iPhone lemmings. This is probably how Apple got so many manufacturers on board quickly as it’s sort of free advertising samples for the case makers. Once owners get bored of their black bumpers, they’ll likely head into an Apple Store and pick a different color option.

But still, free is free and at least Apple is giving them away. The better option of course is to actually fix the death grip issue, but take what you can get — or return the phone.

iPhone4 264x300 Software capable of fixing iPhone 4 reception, recall unnecessary?

iPhone4

Apple may be able to correct the iPhone 4’s left-hand reception problem with a software update, according to a new report. Citing a person with direct knowledge of Apple’s plans, the New York Times reports that the unique antenna design of the iPhone 4 has exposed a weakness in the communications software of iOS, specifically in the interaction between specialized communications software and the antenna. According to the source, the software problem has been present in the iOS for a long time, but was only discovered after the iPhone 4 shipped. The report also claims that the problem could presumably be fixed with a software update, one separate from iOS 4.0.1 that was released yesterday.

Notably, both this report and a separate Wall Street Journal piece claim that Apple will not be launching a recall of iPhone 4 units. Regarding yesterday’s report of Apple engineer Ruben Caballero voicing concerns about the phone’s antenna design early in its development, an Apple spokesperson told the WSJ, “We challenge Bloomberg BusinessWeek to produce anything beyond rumors to back this up. It’s simply not true.” The latter article also claims that Apple gives its carrier partners much less time to test a new iPhone before release. Both articles follow Apple’s announcement of a press conference to be held at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time today, and an open letter from U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer (D-NY) directing Apple to fix the problem.

Call Center Technology

A call center is a department within an organization or a standalone company typically comprised of telephone agents (customer service reps, salesmen, etc) who either accept incoming calls or make outgoing calls. Today, a conventional call center consisting rows of agents in headsets answering and making calls—is becoming obsolete. Customers aren’t just calling you, they want to reach you via email, IM, texting from mobile phones , and more.

iPhone 3G Costs Only $100 To Manufacture

July 7, 2010
iPhone 3G

iPhone 3G

It is to wonder why the new iPhone 3G is going to be so cheap compared to the first generation device. Analysts suspect that the newer iPhone really only costs around $100 to manufacture.

Portelligent estimates that with this lower manufacturing cost that Apple stands to make around $90 per phone on hardware alone. While that is tremendously lower than the estimated $229 profit earned on the original iPhone, the extra money from AT&T that they are likely making in addition to the number of new users that will be attracted by the lower price will no doubt make up for the difference.

According to David Carey, president of Portelligent “Gen2 iPhone pricing is aggressive enough that it made me think Apple’s really taking the gloves off on this one. They are probably not as worried about iPhone hardware profits as they are about getting a piece of the action on service revenues and getting more Macs in homes and offices all around the globe.”

Now it is clear Apple inc. works for the mass and revenues should came from the worldwide sales. Under this point companies’ new strategy could last for a long time.
