AMD outlines future processors to compete with Atom

according to ExtremeTech. The company plans to add the Caspian Sea and Conesus processors next year. Both products are intended for use in mini-notebooks or netbooks, with the same architecture of the new 45-nm processor in Shanghai announced earlier this week. Dual core is presented in two, supporting DDR-2 memory.

Caspian will be suitable for small portable, and includes two megabytes of cache. Conesus is designed for even smaller devices with ball grid array (BGA) packaging, offering only one megabyte of cache.

AMD also plans to move to quad-core processors for small laptops in 2010, with the replacement of the Caspian Sea Champlain. The netbook processor next in Geneva, will always be an element of double nucleus as its predecessor. Both are two megabytes of cache and support for DDR-3.

The company has extended its forecast for 2011, with the suggestion that netbook processors using dual-core chips in Ontario with integrated graphics capabilities. The integration of GPU can cross on the desktop and notebook processors, with quad-core component Liano. The flagship of the future Orochi, which features eight megabytes of cache memory and more than four cores.
