ASUS confirms Eee Pad with Android, Eee Tablet at October
ASUS Chief Jerry Shen confirmed Friday that his company was developing an Android version of Eee pad. The slate is expected to arrive in March and are lower than Apple IPAD with a price of $ 399 or less. He did not elaborate, but was quoted by PC World, diverting part of ASUS’ smartphone team to produce the design.
The executive of the now discredited rumors that Android model was the replacement of Windows Embedded version. The EP101TC is coming, Shen said, but is more expensive than the version of Android with a price between $ 399 and $ 499.
Despite previous claims, the entire system Windows 7 tablets, the EP121, cost about $ 1,000 when it goes in either December or January. Shen justified the price as the EP121 had a companion dock that made it become a complete computer. It also uses relatively high-end components, such ULV Core 2 Duo and a full version of Windows 7.
In addition, Shen said the Eee Tablet come at a price lower than expected. The e-paper note taking tool would cost for about $ 300 and would be the first of all tablet-style devices, shipping in October.
ASUS has been relatively late to tablets, despite describing the plans for this spring, but the decision to launch an Android device points to a greater professionalism on stage, which is currently almost exclusively dominated by IPAD. Many had expected the company to ship an Android tablet fairly quickly, but unconfirmed the suspicions have persisted as Intel and Microsoft forced silence and called either Atom or Windows-based tablets arrived first.
