Olympus sees Micro Four Thirds cams in summer
Olympus first based on Micro Four Thirds, initially identified at Photokina in September, has made another appearance, which now includes a release date scheduled. The company now expects the National People’s Congress, which resembles a vintage rangefinder later this summer. Olympus is silent on pricing for its Micro Four Thirds camera without a name, however. Characteristics, including number of megapixels are not yet disclosed.
The Micro Four Thirds System has been designed to enable the exchange of lenses, such as digital SLR cameras in its own right, but doing it in a smaller and simpler scale appropriate to a compact camera. Micro Four Thirds cameras do not use a traditional reflex mirror are thinner and smaller, but still large sensors.
The technology was developed in collaboration with Panasonic, which is already selling its Lumix G1 based on the technology, and announced a high definition video compatible with GH1 WFP on Tuesday.
